Davida Moto Photo is an eclectic collection of more than 200 printed images selected by Davida from images submitted by riders, photographers and magazines across the world. Spanning every decade of motorcycling history from 1889 through to the present day, Moto Photo is much more than a celebration of the motorcyclist and the machine.

The human interest to be found within the photographs, which depict more than a 100 years of social and cultural change, will fascinate anyone, regardless of what sort of bikes their into, even to those with little or no passion for motorcycling. “To add another layer of interest, every photograph in the exhibition carries a detailed explanation of the story behind the image, when and where it was taken and by whom”

All life is here in these images, from Royal Enfields being transported in Rajasthan strapped to the back of elephants in 2002, lady stunt riders from the 1930’s, men yanking bikes out of waist high Yorkshire mud in 1927, A NSU looking more like a space pod attempting a land speed record attempt in the 1940s, 60’s rockers, a wedding party on scooters in 2006. Moto Photo has been very lucky to have had access to the Mortons Media Archive, probably the most comprehensive and diverse historic collection of motorcycling photography , with hundreds of thousands of images which have never been published.

In short, Davida Moto Photo is a uniquely diverse collection full of unexpected curios.

Curated by Davida’s David Fiddaman and Sharon Underhill, Motophoto came about through more than 30 years of being in the motorcycle business “ constantly seeing fantastic images which we couldn’t use commercially we decided to collect them together and share them with anyone who was interested”

Originally exhibited in Liverpool 2008, this is a touring exhibition which has been shown four times over the past four years; 2009 Stockholm Ton Up and Rumble, 2010 Sideburn Magazine Party in Wigan, 2010 Lahiti Motorcycle Expo, Finland and more recently the 2011 Burning Man Festival in Nevada Desert, USA.

“We always said the idea was to take this exhibition anywhere, so the images are not framed, just simply mounted, that way if we wanted, we could as easily post it to a venue as ride it there on the back of our motorbikes”

Each time Davida Moto Photo is shown it grows and evolves to include images submitted by local people, keeping it fresh and relevant to its audience. “We are interested to see what pops up for Moto Photo Madrid, it could be a photo taken last week or an old black and white family photo from a previous generation. This Summer, the Rockers return as Coventry Transport Museum and Ace Cafe London present a new exhibition telling the story of how a London transport cafe became an international icon, and how the cafe's customers redefined what it meant to be a teenager in the 1950s and 60s.   Planned as a transport cafe for lorry drivers during the 1930s, the Ace Cafe on London's North Circular Road quickly became a place where motorbike riders gathered. In the 1950s the Ace became the destination for a new breed of motorcycle riders; teenagers who met there to listen to rock 'n' roll, and to burn up the road doing The Ton - the magic speed.  They were daring and dangerous, and their lifestyle has influenced fashion, music and motorbikes ever since.  For Coming Of Age At The Ace Cafe, the cafe itself will be lovingly recreated inside the Museum, and then filled with bikes, clothes and stories from the 1950s and 60s,The exhibition is completed with a series of graffiti collages depicting “that Classic motorcycle feeling” made especially for the Ace Cafe by Spanish artist Antonio Merinero.

Celebrating the 10th anniversary of having fully reopened in 2001, Ace Cafe London returns to TT 2011 with an exhibition at The Sayle Gallery, Villa Marina Colonnade, Douglas, IoM, featuring the launch of renowned author, and Manx man, Mick Duckworth's comprehensive new hardbound book, "Ace Times - Speed thrills and tea spills, a cafe and a culture" published by Redline Books,which will be available to purchase at the gallery during the exhibition.

The Ace TT Ton Up Exhibition and store at the Sayle opens daily throughout TT fortnight, from Monday 30th May to Friday 10th June, staying open until late during race week and hosting the annual 59 Club's TT get-together from 7.30pm on Thursday 9th June, showcasing the motorcycle inspired digital artwork and photography of local artists Hazel Walsh and Kirsten Preston together with the unique "Classic" motorcycle inspired art of Antonio Merinero from Spain, and contemporary images of Rockers to include by Germany's London resident photographer Horst Friedrichs.

Almost a week ago I left Bangkok. Almost nothing had been easy since my arrival there, but the last two days in the capital were particularly frustrating.
Despite my efforts, I never saw the teacher Wichit. We agree a meeting, but I waited for over an hour and he did not appear.
Then I had the feeling of having been waging an unequal battle against each and every one of my particular windmills, stubborn again and again to cut off my way. And with my spirit quite smitten, I decided to give myself an exit route to other lands north of the country, to conquer a new goal: to find a signwriter in the jungle. A good excuse for a nice ride.

Pinball, Flipper ... is the game of neighbourhood bars, it’s easy to recall the sound – that

dry "Tack"- of the metal ball bouncing of the bumpers. Visually catching, it’s “a game
of skill” . Good games ending in “Replay” ... and bad games in either "Tilt" or “Game-
over”. We didn´t speak English but so much we understood.

The shiny ball hitting kickers and slingshots and the ringing of bells, were the arcade’s
soundtrack.

Toño Merinero brings those days of mechanical entertainment back, leaving the sound
to our imagination, and putting our "machine" in the place of dreams. These original
and unique pieces, like all of Toño’s collages, provide a particular vision of everyday
life, making it art.

shows his latest creation in Makinostra, Madrid. A collection of

mute pinballs designed on the lay out of the playfield of classic pinball machines reflect

his passion for the Harley universe in an evocative and playful metaphor

of "Biker’s Replay"

The, hand-drawn, personal reinterpretation of various graphical

images and icons of “pop” inspiration make sense in a

type of three-dimensional collage in which each piece each

builds upon the aesthetics and visual context of different concepts of

motorcycling: Cafe Racer, Chopper, Dirt Track, Bobber and Touring.

The piece by piece assembly makes each edition original and unique. Which is

something magical in times when technology allow us to make unlimited, faithful

copies of practically anything.

Full exhaust built by Sbay with high temp resin for carbon tips. Seat messinger type optimized for circuit racing. Belt drive system custom made. Gearbox raised and placed as close to engine as possible to shorten bikes lenght. Front end designed and machined by Sbay. Total weight verified 211 kg.
Production bike with a total of 49 units.
Bike extremely fast with excellent cornering and braking.

The head light was from a old tractor, the rear from a TT Yamaha. The rear tire was for trial, and the seat some home made stuff.
The special attachments on the seat was for a water bottle, the newspaper, or a towel and swimwear.
Can´t say this is latest news! I made the bike back in 2002.. - But I just found these pisc. and remember, I liked that BSA a lot.
It was perfect for the city traffic, and a quick ride to the beach.

Anthonhy de Souza's brother in law, Manuel (both Bombay's mechanical workers that you meet before), got two Montesa Impala, probably the only two in Bombay a weird view in India. He uses them daily, and ask me if I could get some spare bits, (taillight, stirrups... ) for him. For this reason I introduced him to Oriol (Barcelona - club Impala). Oriol was puzzled with the fact of how the hell the bloody things arrive to Bombay, so is inquiring about. Anyway I am pretty sure that both Impalas will be soon as new.
